“My Company bring in golf visitors to Ireland throughout the year, and we stumbled onto this restaurant through word of mouth and reviews on tripadvisor. WOW what a fun place. The atmosphere, the lighting, the overall laid back mood of the place made you feel right at ease the moment you walked through the door. Fis, again major WOW, everything was so good, so fresh, so like want more. Although you wont be asking for more as the portions are well above your average restaurant size. Dishes to go for on the menu, Dublin bay prawns, Spanish Hake, The house no 1, Cod.”
“I went hear last week with 3 friends last week on a Thursday night. It was fairly quiet, but it still had a nice atmosphere. They have an early bird menu that is very good value. Hemmingwaysspecialises in fish, but as a non-fish eater I still had plenty of choice. Food was very tasty and portions were quite big. We had some nice wines to accompany the food.”
“Tonight was the third time I have eaten in Hemmingway's. The food is amazing. It's delicious, the service is brilliant and the whole vibe of the place is magic I feel like I'm on holiday when I'm there. Prices are good too. The owner is a real character and makes the place, but the food is the real thing - best I've had in Dublin.”
“Seafood heaven. I visited this restaurant for the first time as being a fan of seafood and seeing positive reviews wanted to try it. We were not dissapointed.Beautifully cooked fish with a detailed specials bord and ala carte menu provided. I enjoyed the pilpil for starters and the spanish hake as mains.Himself had the scallops and cod.All washed down with a lovely spanish white vino. We enjoyed a bit of banter with the owner who was a friendly hands on individual. Overall an enjoyable experience which may become our new favourite place to dine. Give it a try:-)”
“We ate at Hemmingways last night. Agree completely with the previous reviews. Our host was relaxed and very friendly and set a great tone for the evening. Service was unhurried and allowed us to enjoy the buzz and the great food. We picked fish but I feel certain non fish eaters would be equally well catered for. Cod, halibut, fish cakes and chowder all very tasty with just the correct amount of seasoning. Super meal it's a pity the restaurant isn't on our doorstep.”
“Super fresh fish and seafood. Booked this based upon the number of positive reviews. We weren't disappointed - fresh scallops, fish cakes, Dublin Bay prawns, monkfish, hake and cod! Brian was the perfect host.”
“This is a hidden gem. There is a lovely laid back vibe and I've enjoyed myself every time I've gone here. The seafood and fish is so fresh and uncomplicated. Tonight I had prawns and crab claws in a light cream sauce... delicious and delicate”
“We live near Hemmingways and had never visited before last week now we are determined to make it a regular trip-we loved it. Spanking fresh fish, super atmosphere, great portions . We liked the service too and we were talking about how we would love to make it our local haunt and be greeted when we arrived like Norm in 'Cheers'.”
“This was our second visit to this restaurant and Dublin too. Our first was to celebrate our engagement and second time round was our honeymoon. Both times we were blown away with the food and service. Brian the manager is just so friendly and a pleasure to talk to making our experience simply top notch! The restaurant is small and very personal only about 7 tables which made the atmosphere feel very personal and relaxed. Booking in advance is highly advisable to avoid disappointment. I can highly recommend dining here if you love your FRESH seafood.”
“When in Dublin try some delicious seafood at Brian Creedon's Hemmingway's. I have now visited twice in the last six months and both times the food and friendship were wonderful. The house specialty is a Cod dish which I highly recommend. If you get a chance spend some time chatting it up with Brian. He is hilarious. I don't think you will be disappointed. Great food and a good price and you have the makings of a fine visit.”
"All the menu items are excellent and none disappoint. Brian, the most affable owner and host, has a huge enthusiasm for pleasing his clients and is prepared to sit down, if there is room, and go over the menu items in detail. He is most enthusiastic about his fish presentations. My usual call to him is - Have you a table for 2 hungry people ? I have even brought our staff Christmas function to him"
"I have never had anything slightly negative to say about this restaurant. I had my son's confirmation there, I take my best of friends there, my significant other, I could even eat there alone as the owner Brian's number one priority is you. Food- excellent, Staff- excellent, Atmosphere- excellent! Seriously, go there ! But book!!!"
"One of my favourite places to eat in Dublin. Been eating here for many years, I've never been disappointed. Cod with seafood to die for. Always a warm welcome from Brian when we return. A must when.in the Clontarf area"
